Legacy Commercial Property is a rapidly growing real estate company headquartered in Brentwood, TN. Legacy is part of Highland Ventures, a family-owned real estate conglomerate. Legacy owns and operates a portfolio of 650+ properties across 20 states. Legacy operates in the multi-tenant retail and office asset classes and possesses an internal team that includes property management, leasing , construction , and acquisitions. The Company’s growth is focused on build-to-suit NNN development, retail strip center acquisitions and development, and tenant improvement projects.


We are looking for a qualified and experienced individual to lead our construction and development team, manage projects and improve the process in order to ensure timeliness, accuracy and communication across the organization.


The Director of Retail Construction and Development should possess some or all of the below knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Self Starter with construction project management experience with ability to manage multiple projects including retail ground up and remodels, develop new processes and implement new systems.
  • Financial and reporting experience including estimating costs of projects, timelines, project cost, variance, and other key construction metrics.
  • Strong ability and knowledge of the retail pre-construction process, including ability to hire and manage general contractors, subcontractors, architects and engineers, as well as work with cities.
  • Proven contract negotiation skills with the ability to draft construction contracts.
  • Capacity to guide leasing associates on site plan changes, building additions, further demising a building, or other possibilities for new tenants
  • Skilled with construction-related document preparation including zoning documents, site plan submittals, RFIs, and close-out documents
  • Possesses the field experience to create site plans and also evaluate the status of projects in relation to projected completion date
  • Strong communication skills and ability to represent the company with the utmost integrity both internally and externally.


Attributes and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a related field (architect, engineer, construction management)
  • Leadership experience with ability to grow, train, and develop an internal construction team
  • PC Skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam and Project Management Software).
  • Flexible and adaptive
  • Problem solver with the ability to both lead and do work as well
  • Hands-on and willing to be in the field, when needed
  • Strong ability to communicate with transparency re: status of projects, issues, etc.
  • Self-motivated
  • Detail oriented


Position type and expected hours of work

  • Willing to travel 15-25% of time
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. The home office is located in Brentwood, TN and team members are required to work in the office 5 days per week.
